Made By Hands Of Others

Mayer Pavilion celebrates its 3rd birthday, a three-year commitment to experimental forms of arts, presenting the exhibition titled “Made By Hands Of Others” at Spreefeld Berlin, Friday, 9th December 2022.

Started as an idea for a show that includes photos of birthday cakes made by artists who have been part of previous Mayer Pavilion initiatives over the past three years, the one-day exhibition project has evolved exploring meanings and contemporary traditions of the one-day celebration food.

From the inedible piece of decoration, to the detailed but never realized project on paper of a cake, to the processualism of the act, the conceptual list of ingredients, 'Made By Hands Of Others' highlights the impossibility of the creative act as a solitary act.

Through the creative gesture of making something for someone we love, we understand how much the concept of plurality, inclusiveness and trust is present in our lives where our experiences are also and above all shaped by the hands of others.
